Matthew 8:3 And Jesus put forth His Hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be you clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
The man with leprosy broke every law in the book to get to Jesus. In those days, anyone with leprosy was said to be “unclean” and could not be in the presence of other people. It was unlawful to touch anyone with leprosy, and yet the Word of God says, Jesus put forth His Hand, and touched him.
Did Jesus break the law by doing this? When we study this further in the Greek, we find something quite amazing. According to the Greek, by the time Jesus’ Hand touched the man, he was already healed!
His Touch did not heal him. He was healed by His Words. The instant Jesus said, “I will” he was totally healed.
The Words of God are the most powerful thing in the entire universe. God SPOKE everything into existence. When we go back to the beginning, when God created the universe, we see this clearly. Then God SAID, Let there be light: and there was light. (Genesis 1:3) Reading on, we find, Then God SAID, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. (Genesis 1:6), etc.
This occurs 86 times in the Book of Genesis alone. When God speaks, something happens; change takes place. Jesus is God. When Jesus speaks, something happens. Here in the 8th Chapter of Matthew we read where Jesus spoke two simple words: I will. As soon as He uttered these words, the man with leprosy was totally healed! Hallelujah!
Then Jesus said, be you clean. This means the man was completely restored to wholeness. Leprosy is a flesh-eating disease that causes disfigurement to the human body. Fingers, toes, and other body parts will rot away and be gone.
We do not know the extent of the disease in the leper who broke the law to get to Jesus that day, but we do know he had the disease when he arrived and was healed when he left! When Jesus said, be you clean, whatever it was that the disease had taken from the man was completely restored. If his fingers had rotted away, they grew back. If his ears were gone, they were restored. When Jesus says, be you clean. He means it! When God speaks, something happens IF YOU BELIEVE!
This leper believed Jesus to be the Messiah. He believed Jesus could heal him, and he broke the law to get to Him. He was desperate. He was dying, and He knew Jesus could save him. He didn’t care that he was breaking the law of man. He didn’t care that the people might stone him to death. He was dying anyway. Out of sheer desperation, he found Jesus and called out to Him. That's all it took, and he was made clean; fully restored!
What is it that is ailing you? Are you desperate enough to come to Jesus or are you still depending on the world to solve your situation? Do you believe Jesus can speak to you and solve your issue in an instant? He can and He will if you believe with all your heart and seek Him with everything you have.
Take it to the Lord. Be desperate for Him. Forget what everyone else is still saying. Go ahead…...ask Him. He is still saying, I will; be you clean! Hallelujah!
