Ephesians 4:12 For the equipping of the Saints, for the work of the Ministry, for the edifying of the Body of Christ: till we all come to the unity of the faith

 

The Ministry of all Called Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers is to equip and edify the Saints of God til all have come into unity of the faith.  This is the God-given purpose for all people in ministry.

 

Unity in the Body of Christ is almost non-existent today as denominations bicker back and forth about who has it all right. The Apostle Paul had a lot to say on this subject, and he does not mince words. However, given the division in the Church today, many believers must be avoiding these Passages of Scripture.

 

1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 

 

1 Corinthians 3:3 For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?

 

Jude 1:17-19 But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the Apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit.

 

Unity in the Body of Christ is a subject that I am PASSIONATE about. NOWHERE in the Word of God will we read that division in the Church is good or acceptable to God. I do believe that some day the Church will come together as one Body. What it will take to cause that to happen, I do not know.

 

Until then, as Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers, it is our responsibility to keep on, keeping on with the Ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ till we all come to the unity of the faith.
