Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans not to harm you but to bring you a future and a hope.
God is the Creator and Giver of Life. He creates EVERY person and has a specific plan for their individual life. He creates each one with certain gifts and talents, all of which are to be used to bring glory to Him. It is God’s Will that every person come to the knowledge of the Truth of the Gospel of Christ and make Jesus the Lord and Savior of their life. God wants every person He creates to spend eternity in Heaven with Him, and He has made a Way for that to happen.
The problem is, Satan does everything he can to destroy God’s Plans for us. He wants to rid us of sin and disease because he wants us to spend eternity in Hell with him.
Because of the fall of Adam and Eve, we are all born with a sin nature. This means it’s natural for us to sin. You do not have to teach a child to lie. They naturally do it because of the sin nature they are born with. We are all born selfish. We want the world to revolve around what we want, not the wants and needs of others. We want to receive the rewards and accolades for what we do. We want to be better than the next guy. We want everything for ourselves. All this is due to the sin nature we are born with.
With that said, what we have is a spiritual battle between God and Satan; good and evil, and the fight is over the soul of every person, including you and me.
The Bible speaks a lot about this, but the average person does not fully understand the intensity of the spiritual battle they face every day. Some Christians believe that once a person is saved, they don’t have to fight Satan any longer. That is NOT what the Word of God says, and that is not true.
While Satan CANNOT possess a born-again Christian, he can certainly (and does) cause a lot of problems in our lives. Jesus said, The enemy comes but to kill, steal and destroy but I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly. (John 10:10) There you have it in a nutshell; the enemy (death and destruction) vs. Jesus (abundant life on earth and eternal life in Heaven).
Never let anyone tell you there is no such thing as a spiritual battle for Christians. This is simply not true. The battle rages all around us every day, but we have been given the weapons to defend ourselves and have victory over the enemy.
In this ongoing spiritual battle, we have everything we need for both offense and defense, but as in any battle, the best defense is a powerful offense, and we certainly have that! We will be discussing this over the next several days.
I want to leave you today with this Truth: God loves you. He created you. Your purpose in life is to bring glory to Him. He has a specific Plan for your life, and He has equipped you with everything you need to fulfill that Plan. Everything about His Plan for you is good.
Understanding that we are created by God and that He loves us so much that He sacrificed His Only Son on the Cross for us so we can be redeemed from our sin, live an abundant life now, and spend eternity in Heaven with Him, should make every day we live spectacular!
