Salvation and Sanctification

Colossians 2:15 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the Cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

Believers are to place their faith in the Finished Work of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary. This is why we say that the Cross is the object of our faith. Of course, our faith is not in two pieces of timber that made a cross. Our faith is in what Jesus accomplished on the Cross of Calvary for us. It was there that He gave His Life for our sins and defeated all power of the enemy over us. The Finished Work of Christ on the Cross is to be the sole object of our faith. Nothing else even compares to it.

If we place our faith in ourselves, we will continually fail. This is what most people do. Although they believe in Jesus, their faith for successfully living their life pleasing to God on a daily basis, is not in the Cross of Christ but in themselves.

It’s natural to live like this because we have been taught all our lives to be independent and take care of ourselves. While that is true, when it comes to spiritual matters, we are unable to do this. Actually, we don’t have to do it. Jesus already did it. All we have to do is believe it and place our faith squarely in all that He did on the Cross.

Jesus went to the Cross for our Salvation and our Sanctification. Salvation has to do with the forgiveness of sins and eternal life in Heaven. Sanctification has to do with how we live life now while we are alive. Jesus accomplished it all on the Cross on Crucifixion Day.

When He said “It is finished.” (John 19:30) His Work on Earth as a man was complete. At that moment in time, Salvation and Sanctification for all people was made available. The only thing someone has to do is believe in Who Jesus is and what Jesus did.

As soon as a person says yes to Jesus and believes in Him, they are Saved and born-again. They become a new creation. At that moment the Holy Spirit of God moves in and begins to transform them. The Sanctifying Work is already complete but it takes time for the Holy Spirit to bring about all the change that is needed. In actuality, this is a life-long process.

Say yes to Jesus and you can have it all! Hallelujah! What a mighty God we serve!

Jesus paid the price to……….turn the tide……….in this world.
