Colossians 2:13-15 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This He set aside, nailing it to the Cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them.
The foundation of every Christian denomination is the Cross of Christ. Without the Cross there is nothing to base our faith upon.
When we began this series of discussions on the Benefits in the Believer’s Benefit Package (six months ago on March 1st) we talked about the Pasture of Plenty where every believer can choose to reside and live the abundant life Jesus died for us to enjoy. (John 10:10)
At the center of the Pasture we find the Cross of Christ. The Cross must be the center because it is the Heart of Christianity. Every true born-again believer will agree on this. Without the Cross of Christ, there is nothing but the world and all its evils.
Therefore, everything we receive from God comes by way of the Cross of Christ. Nothing is excluded from this. Every Blessing we receive is because Jesus went to the Cross.
So many people are taught (and believe) that the only Benefit to being a Christian is Eternal Life in Heaven. Although this is absolutely the ultimate Benefit and it will far outlast anything we can receive here on earth, there is so much for us NOW! Jesus said so! I am come that they may have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (John 10:10)
That’s now folks! Now, in this life. Here on earth. We know life in Heaven will be forever spectacular, but God sent His Son to the Cross so we may also have abundant lives NOW!
I suppose the question is: What is Jesus’ definition of abundant?
The dictionary defines it as a large quantity; plentiful supply; a great or rich supply; more than enough;
What does this include? A large quantity of WHAT? A plentiful, great, rich supply of WHAT? More than enough of WHAT? What is included in this abundant life Jesus spoke of? Perhaps a better question would be, What is EXCLUDED in this abundant life Jesus died for us to have? What is it that Jesus didn't die for us to have?
The answer is NOTHING! There is not a single Blessing of God, He does not want us to have. Not only have, but have in abundance! A rich supply of everything. More than enough of everything! Hallelujah! That’s what Jesus went to the Cross for us to have. What part of EVERYTHING do you not understand?
Abundant life means total VICTORY over the enemy. Read this again because it’s for you! And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. Hallelujah! This is what Jesus accomplished on the Cross of Calvary FOR…..YOU!
Because of this, you can live an abundant life NOW!
