Proverbs 27:4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?
We live in a dog-eat-dog world where everyone wants to be top dog. Folks are not only trying to keep up with the Jones’ but surpass them in every way. This is the world controlled by Satan and his demons. At the root of all this is envy and jealousy, which leads to hate, anger, pride, greed, and every other evil thing.
This should NEVER be found in the Body of Christ, but unfortunately, it is. The focus of the church has drifted far from the Ministry of Christ and, in many cases, is not much more than a worldly business or social club with a church name on the sign out front.
The dog-eat-dog world is no longer found just in the business world or neighborhoods. When a person is being ministered to by any demonic spirit, it goes with them everywhere. A person who is jealous of one thing will be jealous about everything, and unfortunately, the Church is not exempt.
These people take that spirit of jealousy with them everywhere they go. They want the best job, the most money, the newest car, the biggest house, and they want to go to the "best church." The world calls them “goal setters,” but the Word of God calls them envious, prideful, greedy, and evil.
When these people join a church fellowship, that spirit of jealousy goes with them to church and begins to infiltrate that body of believers. All of a sudden, the focus is on building a bigger building than the church down the street. It’s now about having more cars in the parking lot on Sunday morning and more people in the pews who will give large sums of money to support the “goals” of the church. In some cases, it’s about recruiting people who can assist the church in borrowing large sums of money so they can be bigger and better than every other church in town.
Jesus never did any of this! He never had a building at all. He never owned anything. His focus was on seeing people saved, healed and delivered. He did this by Teaching, Preaching, Healing, and Delivering. He ministered out of love and compassion, and as He went about ministering to the people, He drew huge crowds because the people were lost, dying, hurting, and in need of a real touch from God.
Do you know what? People today need the same exact thing. Nothing has changed. What is the “goal” of the ministry you are a part of? More importantly, what spirit is the driving force behind it? Is it jealousy, pride, and greed or love and compassion for the lost and dying world who desperately need the Lord Jesus Christ?
The Spirit of God will……..turn the tide
