10-4; Over And Out

Matthew 9:36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.

The compassion of Jesus for the people on earth is beyond anything we can imagine. It’s natural for us to push people away or turn a blind eye and deaf ear to their condition but Jesus sees them as lost like sheep having no shepherd.

To watch sheep is fascinating and for God to compare people to sheep is a fitting comparison. Sheep naturally group together and will follow each other just about anywhere. At times this means disaster to the entire flock as the head sheep will lead them all right over a cliff or into quicksand where they will all die.

The shepherd is who guides the sheep in the way they should go and sees to it that none wander off and become lost. At times it’s necessary for the shepherd to purposely break the legs of a sheep making it impossible for the sheep to walk. He then picks up the sheep and carries it across his shoulders until the legs heal. During this time the sheep becomes solely dependent on the shepherd for everything.

When the legs are healed the shepherd gently puts the sheep down for periods of time and teaches it to walk again. This time of physical therapy is required for the sheep to regain strength so it can keep up with the other sheep and once again be a part of the flock.

Throughout the Bible, God refers to people as His sheep. More times than not, it is necessary for God to break our legs and cripple us so He can pick us up and carry us as He shows us the way we should go. This is a painful experience but often necessary because with broken legs we must depend on Him for everything.

If you are going through a hard time consider it a blessing because God is carrying you. He has allowed this to happen so you will be dependent on Him. Like the lame little lamb, God promises to pick us up, carry us, and see us through the tough times. Then, when we are able, He will put us down and teach us to walk again.

In Isaiah 46:4 the Great Prophet, Isaiah, said this, Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you. What a Promise!

Take note of the Scripture address of this Passage: 46:4. The first part (the Chapter) is, 4 + 6 which equals, 10. Followed by, 4. We can see it as,10:4. In short-wave radio communication when something is, “said and done” or “complete in every way” with “nothing more to add or change” we say, “10-4, over and out.”

This Promise found in Isaiah 46:4 is one of those, said and done, complete, nothing more to add, over and out, Promises of God that will never fail. He created us and He will bear our burdens. He will even carry us if necessary and He will deliver us. All this He will do even when we are old and have gray hair. He will carry us as long as He needs to. To this, He assigned the numbers 10-4 because it is said and done with nothing more to add. It’s a complete Promise of God and we give Him all the praise and glory for His love and compassion and His Promise to carry us when we are crippled.

The Love of God can……….turn the tide
