Ezekiel 8:16 And He brought me into the inner court of the Lord’s House, and behold, at the door of the Temple of the Lord, between the porch and the Altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the Temple of the Lord, and their faces toward the east; and they were worshipping the sun toward the east.
The last part of the Vision given to Ezekiel is the worst yet! The fact that there were about twenty-five men indicates this group included the High Priest and the Chief Priests of the Temple. In the Vision, they were standing between the porch and the Altar of God, blocking the path to the place of Sacrifice.
They had literally turned their backs on the Lord and were facing east, worshipping the sun. This is another abomination to God! We read about this in several places in the Bible and in every case, to worship the sun, moon or any heavenly host was strictly forbidden. And has gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; (Deuteronomy 17:3)
The worship of any god other than God Almighty the Creator of Heaven and Earth, is idol worship. The First Commandment of God says, Thou shalt have no other gods before Me. We are NOT to worship the sun, moon, or ANY false god.
Muslims are moon worshippers. The symbols on their flag are the crescent moon and the star. A few days back we discussed the fact that some Christian church leaders are inviting Muslim Imams to speak to their congregations. This is a travesty and an abomination in the eyes of God. To do this, stand between the porch (entrance) of the church and the Altar (the Gospel of Christ) and block the path to Salvation for the people who enter.
The Priests of old were to assist the people in making their Sacrifices to God. Pastors, Elders, and leaders in the Church today are called to do the same. ANYTHING that hinders the way to the Cross of Christ would fall into this same category and all who commit such an abomination WILL answer to God for their actions.
Let us strive to never turn our backs to the Lord but forever lead people to the Cross of Christ where people can be saved, healed and delivered. Jesus is the Way. The ONLY path to Jesus is the Cross.
