Acts 5:16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

 

Yesterday we entered into a discussion about being vexed with an unclean spirit. We learned that in the early Greek language this referred to being tormented by a demonic spirit which caused the person to become physically, emotionally, and mentally ill.

 

Yes, demonic spirits bring on sickness and disease as well as mental illness. We know this by reading the Word of God. In Matthew 12:22 we read: Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw. The demon that possessed the man caused him to be both blind and mute. However, when Jesus healed him by casting out the demon, his physical ailments left him and he was able to speak and see.

 

This Healing and Delivering ministry continued in the First Church. Throughout the Book of Acts we read of such Ministry. There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one. (Acts 5:16)

 

Jesus spoke to the people and told them that they were to continue His Ministry. He passed on all the Power in Heaven of Healing and Deliverance to those who believed in Him. That, my friends, is US! To us has been given this Power in the Name of Jesus to bring Glory to God!

 

Many people do not believe that the Gifts of the Spirit are still in operation today. I beg to differ. Why would God give people Gifts if they couldn’t use them? That doesn’t make any sense! We read of the Gifts of the Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 There are diversities of Gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of Ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the Word of Wisdom through the Spirit, to another the Word of Knowledge through the same Spirit, to another Faith by the same Spirit, to another Gifts of Healings by the same Spirit, to another the Working of Miracles, to another Prophecy, to another Discerning of Spirits, to another different Kinds of Tongues, to another the Interpretation of Tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

 

The Gifts of the Spirit are all supposed to be in operation today just as they were in the early Church. None of which are to bring glory to the person, but to the Lord Jesus Christ who went to the Cross and died that we may be Saved, Healed, Delivered, Called and Gifted with such Gifts.

 

Everyone has a Calling on their life and God has Gifted them appropriately for that Calling. The Gifts of the Spirit are still available to be used to heal people who are vexed with unclean spirits. When the Body of Christ joins their Gifts and Callings together, voluntarily ministers to people, and GIVES ALL GLORY TO GOD, then we will see the Power of the Holy Spirit fall on that fellowship of people and watch as those vexed with unclean spirits are Saved, Healed and Delivered!

 

Then we will see God……….turn the tide……..in His Church.
