Ephesians 5:14 Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”
The Word of the Lord is for His Church to wake up! Some people are hard to wake up. They are what we call “sound sleepers.” I am that way. If I am sound asleep, noises and other disturbances will not wake me up. It is an exaggeration, but I have often said that I could sleep through a freight train coming through my house! However, in the morning when I wake up, I am rested and ready to face the new day.
Sleep is something everyone needs to survive. Sleep depravation will eventually bring on mental illness and death. In the natural, everyone must sleep. Darkness brings on sleep. When night falls we naturally get sleepy. When we close our eyes we shut out all light and enter into a state of slumber and rest where our bodies rejuvenate and prepare for the day that lies ahead.
Spiritually speaking, the Body of Christ has been sound asleep for a long time. A freight train of evil has barreled through the Church while the people have chosen to sit in the back pew in a deep state of slumber. Unfortunately, most of the Pastors, Preachers, Teachers, Apostles, and Prophets have been asleep as well. It’s almost as if the entire Church has been sleep-walking for about seventy years.
The freight train of evil has not just barreled through the Church coming in the front door and going out the back, it has stopped and the evil inside has spilled out across God’s land infiltrating the lives of God's people like hot lava from a volcano. All this has happened while the Church has slept.
The Body of Christ has been shaken to the core and infiltrated with the evil filth of this world. Satan has had his way with us, pillaging our families while we slept straight through it all. He has entered our churches, homes, businesses, and every aspect of our lives, and has done exactly what Jesus said he would do, Kill, steal and destroy. (John 10:10)
The time has come for the Church to wake up! We each have a role to play in the AWAKENING of the Church. We are the Church. The time of sleeping is over. We must open our eyes to the Truth and Light and rise up!
To awaken from sleep is to get up from a state of slumber, open your eyes, and see the light of the new day. As we turn the corner on yet another year, let us pray for God to AWAKEN us to the Truth and strengthen us to face this year with courage and determination to take back what God has rightfully given us!
As God’s people wake up, seek the Light, and turn back to Him, He will respond in kind. This is His Promise to us. Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”
The alarm has sounded! It’s time to wake up! We cannot sleep through another year. WAKE UP!
