1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be deceived: Evil company corrupts good character.

This above Passage of Scripture is one of the most important, life-changing lessons for everyone but especially believers. Who we associate with and what we allow our eyes to see and our ears to hear has a tremendous impact on our own lives. The fact is, we do become a product of what and whom we associate with.

This Scripture is written differently in the various translations of the Bible. While they all mean the same, each translation brings a new twist on the subject. The following are a few samples.

Do not be deceived: Evil communications corrupt good manners. (KJV)

Do not be deceived: Bad company corrupts good morals. (HCSB) (NASB) (AMP)

Do not be deceived: Bad company ruins good morals. (ESV)

Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character. (NIV)

Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for bad company corrupts good character. (NLT)

Be not deceived: Evil speakings corrupt good manners. (GNV)

Do not be fooled. Bad companions ruin good character. (GNT)

Do not ye be deceived; for evil speeches destroy good conduct. (Do not ye be deceived; forsooth evil speeches corrupt, or destroy, good conduct, or virtues.) (WYC)

When we study all these versions of this one Verse of Scripture we find that this Scripture is a warning for believers. The warning is to stay away from people and places that are not in line with the Word of God. It also teaches us to be aware of false teachings and incorrect doctrine. It instructs us as Jesus did. Therefore come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. (1 Corinthians 6:17)

Whichever translation of the Bible you prefer, this Verse of Scripture should be taken as a strong warning for all of us. Do not be deceived, fooled, or misled. Evil or bad talk, teaching, doctrine, people, or places will ruin, corrupt, and destroy all that is good including your character, manners, morals, conduct, and virtue. Jesus told us to stay away.

Adherence to the Word of God will……….turn the tide……….in your life.
