1 Kings 3:3 And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of his father David, except that he sacrificed and burned incense at the high places.

Solomon was the son of David and the Word of God tells us that he loved the Lord and lived his life in accordance with the statutes of his father.  However, he was not perfect. Except that he sacrificed and burned incense at the high places. This was a not acceptable practice, but God knew Solomon’s heart and He knew his intentions were good.

God knows no one is perfect. Therefore, He does not seek perfection in us, but a willingness to be an obedient servant for His Kingdom. In verse 4 we read, Now the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place: Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.

Solomon understood the prosperity and strength of his people was based on the shed blood of the sacrifice so he took a thousand lambs to be slaughtered. Although he did some things wrong, he had proper understanding of the significance of the sacrificial process.

We will all do some things wrong. We will fail, but God knows our hearts and our intentions. The most important thing is that we believe and understand the significance of the Sacrifice of the Lamb of God. The sins of his people were so great, Solomon took a thousand lambs to be slaughtered. The fact is, a millions lambs would not have been enough! However, the Sacrifice of the Lamb of God, Jesus, was enough and is STILL enough!

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29) We praise God for His Redemption Plan and the Sacrifice of His Only Son on the Cross, that as believers, with proper understanding, we are redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb! Once and for always, the Sacrifice has been made for us!

Solomon knew all blessings from God came as a result of the sacrifice of lambs. That has not changed. All blessings still come from God by way of the Sacrifice. What has changed is the Lamb. Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!  The only requirement to be saved and born again is to believe in that Sacrifice.

Jesus, the Lamb of God, changed the world. I pray you have the proper understanding and believe in the shed Blood of the Lamb of God which is the ONLY way to the Father.  Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6)

Only God can……..turn the tide
