Believe And Receive

John 14:12 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the Works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.

The purpose of the Church is to continue the Work and Ministry of Jesus. The only way to accomplish this is to empower believers with the Holy Spirit. Every Miracle Jesus performed was done by the Power of the Holy Spirit, not by Jesus, the man. Although He was perfect in every way and was 100% God, without the Holy Spirit, Jesus could not have performed a single Miracle.

As we study the Book of Acts, we study the original group of believers. They all believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. They believed Him to be the Messiah who was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, and went to the Cross as the final Blood Sacrifice for their sins. They believed Jesus was buried and rose from the grave. They saw Him after His Resurrection and they witnessed Him Ascend into Heaven.

These people actually knew Jesus personally. They traveled with Him. They were in the crowd on the shore when He fed them all with fives loaves of bread and two fish. They watched him heal people from every disease imaginable. Mary and Jesus’ brothers were among them. Who would know Jesus better than His own mother and brothers?

Everything Jesus told them would happen, happened. The Words of the great Prophets were coming to pass right before their eyes! These people were true believers and they were destined to be among those in the First Church of Jesus Christ.

They numbered approximately 120 and they were all in one accord. They believed because they were eyewitnesses to Jesus and everything about Him. Now God was calling them to carry on the Work and Ministry of Jesus but they knew they couldn’t begin to do what Jesus did…...or could they?

Perhaps someone in the group remembered the day when Jesus said, Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the Works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. (John 14:12) I believe they all began to remember many things Jesus had told them and perhaps they believed even stronger than before.

They had witnessed much and they were about to witness even more. As they were obedient to wait for the Promise of the Father, this group of people was about to receive something no one (other than Jesus) had received before. Wow! Imagine being counted in that number.

God was about to…...….turn the tide……..in their lives!
