Benefits Of Abundant Life

Psalm 103:3 Who forgives all your iniquities.

When Jesus walked this earth, He taught about the New Covenant and the Promises of God. He called it Abundant Life. I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly. (John 10:10) David wrote of it as well, but he referred to it as Benefits for the believer. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His Benefits: (Psalm 103:2)

Please note that after the word “Benefits” we see a colon. This indicates that what follows is a description or list of His Benefits. Although this Psalm was written by David prior to the Birth of Christ, the Lord gave to him a description of the coming New Covenant and it speaks of it in the form of a person. That Person is Jesus Christ, WHO is all the Benefits personified; Abundant Life made possible by His Sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary, for WHOSOEVER chooses to believe.

The “Benefits of Abundant Life” are only for believers. While it is absolutely true that God loves everyone (the saved and the unsaved alike) every good thing we have is from God and it comes to us due to our faith in the Sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. (James 1:17)

Throughout the Word of God we find lists of things. God has an Order for everything and He prioritizes that Order. In every list, we find the most important thing, first. Not that it all is not important, because it is, but the most important things, God will always list first.

In the 103rd Psalm we find a list of the Benefits of being a believer. The Holy Spirit gave this list to David long before Jesus was ever born. It is a rather long list because there is much included in the Benefit Package for the believer. This is also included in what Jesus referred to as Abundant Life in John 10:10.

The first Benefit we find is FORGIVENESS. David wrote: Who forgives all your iniquities. (Psalm 103:3) Forgiveness is first on the list because it is the most important. God wants every person on Earth to be forgiven and set free from sin. God’s Plan for mankind did not include sin. What is sin? The Apostle Paul gave us the answer to this question. He wrote: for whatever is not of faith is sin. (Romans 14:23)

Wow! Anything we do that is not rooted in faith, is sin. Jesus said, If you love Me, keep My Commandments. He who has My Commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him. (John 14:15;21)

Sin is the problem for humanity; all of us. God knows this. That’s WHY He sent Jesus to die on the Cross of Calvary. There is a difference between sin and iniquity and we will address these differences tomorrow. Until then, believe that God Sacrificed His Only Son so you can be forgiven from all your iniquities and sins. It doesn’t matter what that sin is or how bad it is, Jesus died on the Cross so you can be forgiven of it.

If you believe that and place your faith in His Finished Work on the Cross, you have taken the first step into the Abundant Life He died for you to have. This is the Truth that will make you free.

Believing the Truth will……….turn the tide………in your life.

Forgiven! Doreen
