Deuteronomy 18:14 But as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do this.
For the past few days, we have been discussing the subject of witchcraft and divination. Our study has determined that this is manifested in many ways all of which are not acceptable to God. In a nutshell, witchcraft and divination are seeking the Devil for information. It is communication with evil spirits and the dead.
All Satan worship falls into the category of witchcraft and divination. Child sacrifice has always been a part of this demonic way of life and it continues to be to this day. It is all rebellion against God Almighty, His Ways, and His Creation.
We find a lot on this subject in the Old Testament and in every case, God is angered by this behavior. And they caused their sons and daughters to pass through the fire, practiced witchcraft and soothsaying, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger. Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel, and removed them from His sight; (2 Kings 17:17-18)
In the 16th Chapter of the Book of Acts, we find the following: Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the Name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour. But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to the authorities. (Acts 16:16-19)
In this account, we find that divination is a demonic spirit. slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination Her masters were using her for profit but she had within her the knowledge of the Gospel of Christ. She knew “about” Jesus and how to be saved, but she was serving Satan.
Paul became annoyed by this and wanted to see the girl set free from this demonic spirit so he commanded it to leave her in the Name of Jesus. “I command you in the Name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” The demon immediately left her. Demonic spirits cannot stand against the Name of Jesus.
However, this really made her masters mad because she was a source of income for them. So they arrested Paul and Silas. But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to the authorities.
Unfortunately, this is still happening today. Fortune telling is big business and it’s not just out in the world. We see flyers and facebook posts for meetings where supposed “prophets” will be speaking and Christians flock there in great numbers. They go to “seek a word from God” but in most cases, they receive a word from a fortune teller seeking a big offering. In many cases, these people actually charge the churches where they go.
Please, my friends, avoid this at all costs. If you seek a Word from God, go to Him yourself in prayer. Spend time in His Word. He will speak to you. He will answer. Jesus said, Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. (Matthew 7:7)
Turn back to God and He will……….turn the tide……….in your life.
Thank you Lord, Doreen
