Cast Off All Unbelief

Matthew 13:58 Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

The Church today is much like Jesus’ hometown of Nazareth. The people know who Jesus is and a few things that He did, but when it comes to having the faith in Him to perform Miracles, Signs, and Wonders today through the Holy Spirit, not so much.

We read in the Book of Matthew that Jesus went about teaching in the Synagogues and ministering to the people. He Healed the sick and cast out demons setting the people free from bondage. Jesus performed many different types of Miracles, most of which were not recorded in the Scriptures. And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. (John 21:25)

The people in Nazareth knew Jesus as a child. They knew Him to be the son of Joseph, the Carpenter, and the brother to His siblings. Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things? (Matthew 13:55-56)

Due to their unbelief, Jesus was hindered in His ministry in Nazareth. How could this be? After all, He was God, the Word made flesh, the Messiah! How could He be hindered by anything? My friends, the demonic spirit of unbelief is the most prevalent hindering spirit there is. The simple fact is, if people do not believe, they will not receive. Their unbelief did not actually hinder Jesus’ ability to perform Miracles, it hindered their ability to receive them.

The same is true today. The Holy Spirit of God is able to do anything. He is God! He is the Third Person of the Godhead; the One Jesus told us would be coming when He went to be with the Father. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. (John 14:26) Please remember that the Holy Spirit had to descend on Jesus prior to the start of His Ministry. He was Baptized and the Holy Spirit came in the form of a dove and descended upon Him. This incident is recorded in all four Gospels. (Matthew 3:16; Mark 1:10; Luke 3:22; John 1:32)

The Church today believes that the Spirit of God draws people to God for Salvation. They believe this so they receive this but this is by no means the only Work of the Holy Spirit! Just as the Nazarenes limited Jesus, the Church today limits the Holy Spirit, and it is all because of unbelief!

My friends, what you believe will determine what you will receive. If you are sitting week after week in a Church that does not believe in the Miraculous Work of the Holy Spirit of God, you will never witness anything Miraculous. The hindering spirit of unbelief must be cast out for the Holy Spirit of God to prevail. Unfortunately, in most of these churches, unbelief comes straight from the leadership. If the Pastor of the church does not believe, chances are, his congregation will not believe either.

Every Church should be a place where the Holy Spirit is free to do whatever He wants through whomever He chooses to work through and in whomever, He chooses to perform a Miracle. This should be an everyday occurrence not a once in a lifetime rarity. And let me add that the Work of the Holy Spirit is not by any means limited to inside church buildings. Jesus said, For where two or three are gathered together in My Name, I am there in the midst of them. (Matthew 18:20)

I encourage you to read the Bible for yourself. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you understanding. He is your Teacher. Seek understanding and discernment. God will grant you this request. Then, you can set aside all unbelief and walk in total faith in Jesus Christ Who gave Himself for you and sent the Holy Spirit to be with you always. Hallelujah!

Believe and God will…...….turn the tide……….in your life.

Believing and receiving every day!         Doreen
