Cessationism

Acts 1:1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and to teach.

Luke was inspired by the Holy Spirit and wrote the Book of Acts. He addressed it to Theophilus and it is a history of the early Church and the move of God that took place at that time. Most theologians believe that it covered an approximate thirty-year period of time but we don’t know the dates for sure.

The exact dates don’t really matter. What matters is what happened during that time and what we find is Miracle after Miracle performed by the Holy Spirit of God through the hands of people. In many instances, God uses people. He has always used people and He is still using people today.

The Church is to be an extension of the Ministry of Jesus while He walked this earth. His Ministry only lasted 3 1/2 years but it has continued since His Resurrection. We read in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 about the Spiritual Gifts that God bestows on believers.

While there are entire denominations that do not believe in Miracles or the Gifts of the Spirit, the fact is, God still bestows Gifts on people and He still uses them to perform Miracles TODAY! These people are called cessationists because they believe that Divine Healing, Miracles, and Spiritual Gifts ceased to exist at the death of the last Apostle. The movement is called cessationism and is absolutely preposterous!

We see Miracles every day all around us. We know God Heals and we know He uses people to perform Miracles. Cessationists put the Holy Spirit of God in a virtual box, close the lid, and seal it shut. These people are robbing themselves and those who listen to them of everything God has for His children in this life. It’s a shame but it’s true.

Nowhere in the Word of God does it say that the supernatural Work of God has ceased to exist. While it is true that there have been some people who have abused the Spiritual Gifts out of pride and for monetary gain, this does not mean that the Gift does not exist! People are people and they will exploit anything to make a dollar, but their exploitation does not deem the Work of God to be non-existent.

I suggest you read the Bible for yourself and seek Divine Understanding, which by the way is Supernatural Work of the Holy Spirit in itself! Without the Holy Spirit as our Teacher, we cannot understand the Word of God. This one thing alone disproves the claims of cessationists!

It has always been the Work of the Holy Spirit that has brought about every Miracle, Revival, and Awakening all around the world. It is the Supernatural Work of the Holy Spirit that draws a person to the Lord and gives them the faith to believe in Jesus for Salvation! Without the Holy Spirit, there is nothing! He is the Power Source of the Triune Godhead.

If you attend a Church that does not believe in the Supernatural Moving and Operation of the Holy Spirit you are being robbed of everything God has for you beyond Salvation. Cessationism is the work of the Devil to do what Jesus said he does: The thief comes but to kill, steal, and destroy but I have comes that they may have life and have it more abundantly. (John 10:10) Abundant Life is a Spirit-filled life; a life led by the Holy Spirit of God! How can this be if the Work of the Holy Spirit ceased to exist 2,000 years ago? You’re right. It can’t! Don’t believe these lies. Don’t be robbed of what the Lord has for you.

The Holy Spirit of God will…..…….turn the tide……….in this world.

Thank you God for Your Holy Spirit!         Doreen
