Changed Forever

John 3:3 Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.

Saul’s conversion experience on the Road to Damascus is one of the most dramatic and powerful salvation testimonies in all of the Bible. God had a Plan to use this man to bring the Gospel to both the Jews and the Gentiles.

It is God’s Will that every person on earth comes to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and oftentimes He uses people to do this. This is the purpose of the Five-fold Ministry. And He Himself gave some to be Apostles, some Prophets, some Evangelists, and some Pastors and Teachers, for the equipping of the Saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the Body of Christ. (Ephesians 4:11-12)

However, in the case of Saul, Jesus spoke to him directly. He didn’t come under conviction by hearing a preacher. Although Saul had heard a lot about this Man named Jesus and was well aware of all the Miracles, he still didn’t believe that He was the Messiah. In fact, the more he heard about Him the more he hated Him and vowed to destroy all believers.

For Saul to be saved and born again, Jesus had to pay him a personal visit and that’s exactly what happened out in the middle of nowhere on the road from Jerusalem to Damascus. As we have been discussing for the past several days, when the Light of the Lord Jesus Christ came upon Saul and he heard the Lord’s Voice, that was it. He was immediately saved, born again, and totally changed.

God had created Saul with a brilliant mind and tremendous drive and zeal. Now, after his conversion, God would use this man unlike any other in all of history. Saul knew History and the Law very well. He had studied under the best teachers. He was well versed in the Words of the Prophets and probably had most of what we know as the Old Testament committed to memory.

All his knowledge had served him well and he was slated to be the next leader and most powerful person in the Jewish hierarchy. But, he was not saved. All the knowledge in the world does not save a person. As Jesus said, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God. (John 3:3) Saul found out quickly that all his knowledge and devotion to the Law and the Jewish religion was totally worthless in the eyes of God.

There is no telling what Saul called Jesus prior to meeting Him personally but we know that afterward, he called Him, Lord. This is not only a term of respect but of deity. Saul knew he had met the Messiah, the Son of God, face to face and nothing would ever be the same for him again. He was saved! Born again! Changed forever! Now, God would use him for what He created him to do. What a testimony!

Only Jesus can……….turn the tide………..in your life.

Born again, there’s really been a change in me,          Doreen
