John 14:25-26 These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
Jesus told His Disciples that He would be leaving and going to His Father. He also told them that the Holy Spirit would then be their Teacher, Counselor, and Guide. Jesus called Him “the Helper” because He would help them in every way possible IF they consulted Him and sought His Help.
In the First Chapter of the Book of Acts we find that the Holy Spirit wasted no time in going to work in the hearts and lives of the believers present. In Verse 2 He gave them Commandments to follow. Until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given Commandments to the Apostles whom He had chosen. (Acts 1:2)
In Verse 5, Jesus tells them about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. (Acts 1:5)
In Verse 8, Jesus tells them that the Holy Spirit will be their Power. But you shall receive Power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. (Acts 1:8) This Power is a result of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and their obedience to the Commandments given by the Holy Spirit.
In Verse 16 we read of the Teaching according to the Word of God which is all inspired by the Holy Spirit. Men and brethren, this Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus; (Acts 1:16)
To summarize the First Chapter of the Book of Acts, we find the Church to be equipped by Commandments, Baptism, Power and Teaching, all by and through the Holy Spirit. Now that Jesus sits at the Right Hand of the Father in Heaven making intercession for us, it is the Holy Spirit that God has given to us for Guidance and Direction.
Churches and fellowships of believers who discount the Holy Spirit have no Power of God to do anything. He is the replacement for Jesus in the lives of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the Promised Helper Jesus spoke about and He dwells in the heart of EVERY BELIEVER! Hallelujah!
The Holy Spirit is the Power of God to……….turn the tide
