John 8:31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you continue in My Word, you are My disciples indeed.”
This single phrase made by Jesus is most powerful. The keyword here is “continue.” It’s not enough to just believe. To believe is the first step. Jesus said,“If you CONTINUE in My Word.” Other translations read, “If you ABIDE in my Word.” Either way, it means to live your life in accordance with His Word.
This is the way our Forefathers in America lived. They were not perfect but they understood the power and importance of the Word of God and lived in accordance with it. They sought the principles of the Scriptures for the proper terminology for our Founding Documents including our Constitution. This is WHY God has blessed America like no other in history.
The problems we face today are because we have failed to CONTINUE in His Word. As a people, we began by believing and continued to believe by lifting up the Word of God and the Name of Jesus in our land. However, for the past six to seven decades we have stopped believing and trusting; we have failed to continue.
As a people, America no longer “abides” in Christ and the Word of God. He is no longer our dwelling place. We have moved out and are now living in the slums owned and operated by the great slumlord, Satan.
America “had it made” with Jesus as her King. Abiding in Him and continuing in His Word and Ways led to great prosperity and blessing. It can be compared to a family living in a huge mansion built of the best materials known and fully insulated. The skylights allowed the Light of the World to shine bright into every room. The whole house was cool in the summertime and warm in the winter.
Inside, all the cupboards were filled to the brim with every kind of food imaginable. Every faucet in the house brought forth pure, clean Water in abundance. The sewer lines ran smoothly constantly eliminating all waste from the house; they never backed up. The rooms were decorated with lavish furniture where anyone could just sit down and sink into absolute comfort. In this house, the people could feel the Peace of God everywhere. There was no fear and no one went to bed hungry or wanted for anything. This house provided abundant life.
But then something happened. Some of the people decided they didn’t want to live for God anymore. They thought they could do things better on their own. They wanted all the conveniences and blessings of abiding with Christ, but they didn’t want to obey His Word or speak His Name any longer. This is when God said, “NO.”
After sixty to seventy years, more and more people failed to continue to abide in His Word and now, everyone is feeling the effects of their sin. God will not bless a people who do not follow Him. Jesus made that perfectly clear in the Passage of Scripture noted above.“If you CONTINUE in My Word, you are My disciples indeed.”
God has always looked for disciples; people who love Him and will devote their lives to Him and His Word. Any other devotion will not suffice. Society in America today is devoted to everything EXCEPT God and His Word. We love money and power far more than we love God. We trust ourselves and other people more than we trust God. We lift up every other name except the Name of Jesus.
As a result, we are no longer living in the mansion built and blessed by God. Rather, we are living in the slums of Satan in fear for our lives. My friends, we stand at a crossroads in America. We the people must decide which God we will continue with. Remember, the keyword is CONTINUE.
There is a Remnant of God’s people in America. These are the true Disciples of Christ who have chosen to continue to abide in Christ and lift up His Name in their homes, businesses and everywhere they go. These are those who live in accordance with His Word. The Remnant is scattered across America.
If you consider yourself to be a part of this Remnant, then it’s time to reclaim America for Christ. We MUST speak the Name of Jesus everywhere without fear. We MUST clean up our houses and get all the trash out. Perhaps it's time to flush some stuff down the toilet and pump the septic tank. I don't know about you, but I don't want to live in Satan's slums.
We must ABIDE in the Word of God and CONTINUE constantly; every day and everywhere. Then we will see God move to restore America. Then He will heal our land. This is the Promise of God, but we must each do our part to return, restore and reclaim America for Christ.
Only God can……..turn the tide
