Convince, Rebuke, Exhort

2 Timothy 4:2 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living the dead at His appearing and His Kingdom: Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

Paul instructed Timothy to Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. In the King James Translation, the word “convince” is translated “reprove.” Reprove means to scold or correct usually gently or with kindly intent, or to express disapproval of something. It also means to convince or sell someone on an idea.

While preaching the Gospel we should keep in mind these three words used by the Apostle Paul: Reprove (convince), rebuke (correct), and exhort (encourage). And we are to do all this patiently while teaching the Truth of the Word of God.

The second Verse in the Amplified Bible reads as follows: Herald and preach the Word! Keep your sense of urgency (stand by, be at hand and ready), whether the opportunity seems to be favorable or unfavorable. (Whether it is convenient or inconvenient, whether it is welcome or unwelcome, you as a preacher of the Word are to show people in what way their lives are wrong.) And convince them, rebuking and correcting, warning and urging and encouraging them, being unflagging and inexhaustible in patience and teaching.

Time is short. Jesus is soon coming back. We must reach the lost for Christ. Most people are not believers. They are living for the devil and will spend eternity in Hell. It’s our responsibility to show them the Way to Salvation. That Way, of course, is through their faith in the Finished Work of Jesus Christ on the Cross. I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by Me. (John 14:6)

People must understand that they are sinners and they stand in need of a Savior. Jesus is their Savior. He has already paid the price for every sin they have ever committed. He stands ready to accept them into the fold of believers. Tell someone about Jesus today. They need to know the Truth.

The Gospel of Christ will……….turn the tide……….in this world.

Praise Jesus!          Doreen
