Criteria For Salvation

Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

After His Resurrection, Jesus appeared to His Disciples in the Upper Room and breathed the breath of life into them. Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews. Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had said this, He showed them His Hands and His side. Then the Disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed into them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” (John 20:19-22)

This was the first time Jesus appeared to them as a group after His Resurrection. With this, His Disciples really believed He had been Resurrected from the dead and was alive. They knew He had been Crucified and buried but now, after being there with Him and seeing the scars on His hands and in His side, they believed God had risen Him from the grave. When Jesus saw that they believed, He breathed into each of them and they were born again.

The Disciples had confessed Jesus before men many times but they could not be born again until they believed God had risen Him from the dead. The criteria for Salvation have not changed. Paul instructed the Romans in this. That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

What do you believe about Jesus? Have you openly confessed Him as your Lord and Savior? Do you believe God raised Him from the dead and He is alive today sitting at the Right Hand of the Father? If you don’t, you may have some knowledge about Jesus, but you are not really saved and born again.

If you fall into this category, I suggest you read the Gospel of John over and over again. Seek the Lord for faith to believe that God did raise Jesus from the dead and that He is alive today. HE IS ALIVE AND HE IS COMING BACK! You must believe this in your heart.

Jesus is alive and is coming back to……..….turn the tide!
