The Benefits for the born again believer in Christ are numerous. The list is long and as we delve deeper into this subject we find more and more! Perhaps, we will be unable to exhaust this study due to the fact that God never runs out of anything for His children. However, we will press on and as we do, I pray you will be more and more Blessed with every passing day as we discover Blessing after Blessing and Benefit after Benefit.
Thus far our Benefit list consists of the following: FORGIVENESS, HEALING, DELIVERANCE, LOVING KINDNESS, MERCY, PROVISION, AUTHORITY, POWER, RIGHTEOUSNESS, JUDGMENT, INSTRUCTION and TEACHING.
Today we add to the list, GUIDANCE. This Benefit is HUGE because if we take advantage of it, we will never go astray or venture off the narrow road. Like so many of our Benefits, they are available to us but we must accept them and use them in our daily lives. The Benefits afforded us by our Savior, Jesus Christ, are intended to be for us every day. They are not meant to be things we acknowledge on a weekly basis when we go to church or when we are with our “church friends.” Christianity is a lifestyle; every day, all day long. As we say today, Christianity is a 24/7 way of life due to our faith in Christ and His Finished Work on the Cross of Calvary.
Therefore, the Benefit of GUIDANCE is of the upmost importance. While some teach that once you are “saved” it doesn’t matter what you do or how you live your life because no one can snatch you out of the Father’s Hand. The FACT is that the majority of the Bible is INSTRUCTION in how to live for God. If it didn’t matter how we live our lives, why would God write so much on that subject and include it in His Word to us?
The following are a mere sampling of Scriptures on GUIDANCE and the importance of our adherence to Divine Guidance.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. (Psalms 32:8)
However, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. (John 16:13)
Your ears shall hear a Word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left. (Isaiah 30:21)
The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. (Isaiah 58:11)
Divine GUIDANCE is a Benefit few people accept. It’s natural to want to do things our way, make our own decisions and plans but rarely are our plans in line with God’s Plan. Seek the Divine GUIDANCE. God’s Plan and Way is far greater than anything we could ever dream up for ourselves. More on this tomorrow.
