Divine Nature

1 Peter 1:4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious Promises, that through these you may be partakers of the Divine Nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

For the past several days, we have been discussing the condition of people prior to Salvation. Using Adam as our example, we see that sin was his problem. Before he decided to sin, Adam lived a perfect life in total Peace and unity with God.

However, after Adam sinned everything changed for him, and all three parts of his being changed for the worse. His spirit was separated from God. Spiritually, Adam died. His soul became rebellious and his body began to decay. This sin-sick state is an accurate description of all people before Salvation. This describes the condition of what the Apostle Paul called the old man or the old creation.

This is not God’s Plan for anyone so He sent His Son to be the Sacrificial Lamb and die on the Cross for our sins and Redeem us in His eyes. We don’t have to live corrupt lives. We don’t have to be separated from God the Father. We don’t have to be rebellious. We can lay down the old man and become a new creation in Christ Jesus!

Once we believe in the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary, the Holy Spirit will take up residence inside us and begin His tremendous Work of Restoration and Transformation. This is the Divine Work of the Holy Spirit of God. Only He can do this in the soul of a person. Once the soul is saved, then the soul can be transformed.

Peter described it like this: Grace and Peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His Divine Power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious Promises, that through these you may be partakers of the Divine Nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (1 Peter 1:2-4)

Through our faith in Jesus and His Finished Work on the Cross of Calvary, we can be partakers of the Divine Nature and escape the corruption of this dark, evil world. This means that we can trade the corrupt, rebellious nature of the old man for the Divine Nature of God in the new creation!

God made a Way for every person on earth to experience this. That Way is faith in Christ and Him Crucified. There is no other way. All else is false and foolishness.

Understanding this will……….turn the tide……….in your life.

Thank you Jesus!          Doreen
