Mark 1:34 Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.

 

Yesterday, we discussed Jezebel who was the wife of King Ahab. She was raised in a cult and brought those cult practices into her marriage. Jezebel was a strong, controlling woman who had many of God’s Prophets killed because she did not want the people of Israel to hear the Word of God.

 

In Revelation 2:18-29, we read the letter Jesus dictated to John for the church in Thyatira. In Verse 20, Jesus said, Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.

 

As I was reading this again the word “allow” jumped off the page at me. The letter was written to the Pastor of the church and Jesus was scolding him for ALLOWING this spirit to minister to his fellowship of believers.

 

It is obvious that the Pastor of the church in Thyatira knew what was going on and he did nothing to stop it. He ALLOWED it to continue and this provoked Jesus to write the following: And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. (Revelation 2:21) It was (and is) the Pastor’s job to stop evil in their church. They must not allow this to continue.

 

When Jesus was ministering on earth, He did not allow any demonic spirit to minister. He called them out and cast them out of His followers. Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him. (Mark 1:34)

 

As the leader of the church, it is the Pastor’s responsibility to protect his flock and in doing so, he must confront every demonic spirit that enters his church and not allow them to minister to his people. Also, he must preach against wrongdoing and call his congregation to repentance.

 

The Pastor of the church in Thyatira did not do this and so it continued and got worse. The church in Thyatira was the foundation for the Catholic Church where we find idolatry, sexual immorality, and much more to be prevalent to this day. Jesus went on in His letter to them and told them what was going to happen. Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works. (Revelation 2:23-24)

 

All of this could have been stopped if the Pastor of the church in Thyatira had not ALLOWED the spirit of Jezebel to minister to his people. What are we allowing in our homes today that we know is evil? What are we allowing in our midst? What are we allowing in our churches? Please take this seriously because God takes it VERY seriously. He is a God of Love and His Mercy endures forever BUT He is also a God of Judgment and He keeps His Promises.

 

Repent! The Kingdom of God is at hand. He will soon……….turn the tide
