Do Not Frustrate The Grace Of God

Galatians 5:4 Christ has become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the Law; you are fallen from Grace.

The Book of Galatians was written by the Apostle Paul to the believers in the Churches of Galatia. Paul knew many of these people because he founded the Churches there. He knew what he had taught them and when word came back to him that they had drifted off track, he wrote a letter to them. This letter has been included in the Canon of Scripture because the Holy Spirit knew it would be much-needed instruction for believers in the future.

A popular question in the Church today is whether or not a person can fall from Grace and lose their Salvation. Paul’s letter to the Churches in Galatia answers this question in no uncertain terms. Again, Paul knew these people. He knew they were Saved and born again because he taught them the Truth of the Gospel of Christ and they converted.

In his letter to the Galatians, Paul wrote I do not frustrate the Grace of God; for if Righteousness comes by the Law, then Christ is dead in vain. (Galatians 2:21) The keyword in this Scripture is frustrate. What does it mean to frustrate the Grace of God? The Greek word for frustrate is atheteo and it means to neutralize or violate, to disannul, declare to be invalid; cancel, to bring to naught. Knowing this definition, we gain a more complete understanding of Paul’s statement.

The false teaching that had infiltrated the Churches in Galatia was that faith in Christ Crucified was not enough to be Saved. Aspects of the Law (circumcision) had to be adhered to as well. This false teaching is what prompted Paul to write the letter that we now know as the Book of Galatians.

The simple fact is that the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary is the Source of God’s Grace for anyone who will choose to believe in it. It is absolutely free and no one can work for it, purchase it, or do anything to gain access to it other than believe in what Christ accomplished there. When we add anything to the source of receiving the Gift of Grace we frustrate it. That means we neutralize, violate, disannul, declare it to be invalid, cancel, and bring it to naught making it worth nothing.

This is very serious business my friends because it means that Christ went to the Cross for nothing. Any teaching that suggests that you have to be baptized in water, speak in tongues, wear certain clothes, or do specific things to be saved, is false!

The ONLY thing you have to do is believe that Christ died on the Cross for your sins. When you truly believe this, you will be converted and you will become a new creation in Jesus Christ. You will change and not want to do the things you used to do. Anyone can say they believe but it is the fruit of their life that displays their Salvation. As Jesus said, A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. (Matthew 7:18)

Symbolically, we are all trees. The question is: What type of fruit are we bearing?

True faith in Christ Crucified will…...….turn the tide………..in your life.
