Acts 1:18-19 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of the iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, the Field of Blood.
While in prayer and study of the Scriptures, the believers in the Upper Room came across the Prophecies of David and Jeremiah in regard to Judas, the man who betrayed Christ. They all knew what Judas did and what happened to him. They were aware that he committed suicide by hanging himself because of the guilt he had over his actions. In fact, all of Jerusalem was aware of what happened to Judas.
Matthew wrote the whole story in his Gospel. We find it in the 27th Chapter of his Book. Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” And they said, “What is that to us? You see to it!” Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the Temple and departed, and went and hanged himself. But the chief priests took the silver pieces and said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because they are the price of blood.” And then consulted together and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in. Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day. Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the Prophet, saying, “And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the value of Him who was priced, whom they of the children of Israel priced, and gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord direct me.” (Matthew 27:3-9)
As the group of believers in the Upper Room spent time in prayer and study of the Scriptures and Prophecies, they came to the realization that they were actually witnessing the fulfillment of the Prophecies. Both David and Jeremiah had Prophesied about Judas and they had all watched as the Prophecies came to pass. What an exciting time to be a believer!
We too are living in exciting times! Prophecies are unfolding right before our eyes. We could very well be alive when the Rapture of the Church takes place! It will be the next event to take place on the timeline of eschatology (which is the study of End Time events). It is indeed an extremely exciting time to be alive! Study the Bible and pray as they did in the Upper Room.
God is about to……….turn the tide
Excited! Doreen
