Faith, Honor, Obedience

Matthew 15:8 These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.

All God asks of His children is to have faith in Him, honor Him, and obey Him. Jesus talked a lot about honor. He was dishonored by His own family and the people of His hometown.

Honor: to respect; hold in high esteem. It is impossible to honor someone you don’t believe in. When Jesus said, These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. (Matthew 15:8) what He was actually saying was that those people spoke nice words but they really didn’t believe it in their hearts. They had knowledge in their heads but no real faith in their hearts. Unfortunately, this is the condition of many people today who profess to be Christians.

The believers that made up the First Church that we have been studying about in the Book of Acts truly honored Jesus. Their faith in Him was based on what they absolutely knew to be true. They not only had knowledge about Jesus, they believed in Him with all their heart. This is the essence of the First Commandment when Jesus said, And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the First Commandment. (Mark 12:30)

Faith, honor, and obedience all go together. It begins with faith. The more we believe in Jesus and His Finished Work on the Cross of Calvary, the more our faith will grow. As our faith in Him grows, we trust Him more which automatically leads to honoring Him more and more each day.

Our life is a daily walk in faith. Not just any faith but faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and all that He did and is still doing, for us. As we stated yesterday, He did it all for us. He did it all for YOU! If you were the only person on earth, Jesus would have done the same thing just for you.

Once we REALLY believe this fact, our faith will automatically grow. Belief builds faith. Faith develops honor and honor results in obedience. That is all God asks of us.

Faith, honor, and obedience will……….turn the tide……..in your life.

I honor you Jesus,         Doreen
