Faith Makes The Connection

Hebrews 11:6 Without faith it is impossible to please Him.

After Jesus was Resurrected, He came back and appeared to over five hundred people and told them to go to the Temple and wait for the Holy Spirit, Whom He referred to as the Promise of the Father. And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the Promise of the Father, (Acts 1:4)

Why did they have to go to Jerusalem? Why couldn’t they just wait where they were? Because in those days, the Presence of God only dwelled in the Temple between the Mercy Seat and the Cherubim. Everything of God happened at the Temple in Jerusalem. That’s why they had to take their sacrifices to the Temple. This is all they knew, so that’s why Jesus instructed them to go there and wait to be Baptized with the Holy Spirit.

Due to the Finished Work of Jesus on the Cross, believers don’t have to go to Jerusalem, a church building or any place else to be Baptized with the Holy Spirit. Because of the cleansing Blood of Jesus, which He shed on the Cross, the Holy Spirit dwells in the hearts and lives of all believers! He is with us always. All we have to do is reach out to Him by faith.

It is our faith in the Finished Work of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary that connects us to the Holy Spirit of God. Without faith in Christ Crucified, we are nothing. Faith in Jesus is our connection to God. The Holy Spirit is giving me a picture of an old-fashioned telephone switchboard. When you wanted to talk to someone, you called the operator and told her who you wanted to talk to. She then plugged the end of your cable into that person’s receptacle and a line of communication was initiated between you and them. You may have seen this on an old episode of the Andy Griffith Show. The cable was the vehicle of connection. It was all done manually but the connection was made and people were able to talk to each other.

Keeping this picture in your mind, understand that our faith in Christ is the cable that connects us to God. Without faith, there is no connection to God. When it comes right down to it, all God asks of us is to believe in Him. Without faith it is impossible to please Him. (Hebrews 11:6)

Faith in Christ will……….turn the tide
