Faith Over Fear

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love, and of a sound mind.

For the past few days, we have been discussing the event found in the 19th Chapter of the Book of Acts when several Jews attempted to cast a demon out of a possessed man. They had watched Paul do this and they thought they had the same authority and power. However, because they were not born-again believers in the Finished Work of Jesus on the Cross, they were unsuccessful.

Actually, they were overcome by the demon! Now God worked unusual Miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them. Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the Name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?” Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. (Acts 19:11-16)

This incident became well known throughout all of Ephesus and it caused fear to rise up in the people. And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus, and fear fell on them all, and the Name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. (Acts 19:17) This is exactly what Satan wanted to happen. Fear is one of his most powerful weapons and he uses it often. If he can cause a person to become afraid, he has gained a foothold because fear destroys faith.

There are well over 300 Passages of Scripture instructing us to fear not or to not be afraid. When we place our faith in Jesus, we have nothing to fear. The Power of God is so much greater than the power of Satan. Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)

Paul instructed young Timothy on the subject of fear. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7) The fact is, fear (to be afraid) in any form is not of God. Faith will trump fear every time!

What do you believe God for today? Are you afraid, worried, concerned, or fearful about something? If so, let faith arise in your soul. Believe in God! He is able to do all things. Faith is God’s currency. Without it, we have nothing. Jesus suffered and died on the Cross of Calvary so you can be Redeemed. He also went there so you can be free from all attacks of the enemy. Satan has no power over you unless you give it to him.

Stand up and stand strong. Pick up your shield of faith and BELIEVE! Trust in the Word of God. He has not given you the spirit of fear. Rather, He has given you Power, Love, and a Sound Mind! Hallelujah!

Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ will………..turn the tide……….in your life!
