Faith Test

Genesis 22:2 Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”

To be Kingdom minded is to walk in obedience to the Voice of God. Whether His Voice comes through the reading and meditation on His Word, Prayer, or through other people, His Voice will lead us into all Truth and cause us to choose to be Kingdom minded.

God does not force anyone to do anything. He wants us to choose to put Him and His Kingdom first in our lives. We can live and operate in the Kingdom of God here on earth, but we must choose to do so. Most people choose the world and the things of this world only to be disappointed by it all.

Yesterday, we discussed the fact that we don’t own anything. We do not even own ourselves! You are not your own. (1 Corinthians 6:19) Our children are not ours either. Every person is God’s Creation and we all belong to Him. Your children do not belong to you. God has entrusted them to you for a short time. Your job is to impart to them the Ways of God and to train them up in the way they should live their lives. (Proverbs 22:6)

In the Book of Genesis, we find the story of Abraham. In their old age, God gave him and Sarah a son. They named the child Isaac. Then God tested the faith of Abraham. Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” (Genesis 22:2)

Abraham loved Isaac. He was his son and now God was commanding him to offer Isaac up as a burnt offering. As we read on, we find that Abraham was willing to do what the Lord God had commanded him. He took the boy to the mountain and built an Altar. Abraham was ready to sacrifice Isaac when the Lord stopped him. You see, Abraham passed the test of faith that day. He trusted God to provide the sacrifice, and He did.

The story of Abraham (like all the others) is a story of faith in God. Due to his faith, he has become known as the Father of Faith. We are all called to walk in faith because without faith it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6)

The only thing God recognizes is faith. However, it is not just faith in anything. God is looking for faith in His Son, Jesus, and His Sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary. He willingly went to the Cross so we can be Saved and Redeemed. Every day our faith is put to the test. Will you pass the faith test today?
