Feast Of Weeks
March 5, 2024, 3:00 AM

John 4:35 Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!

The last of the Spring Feasts is the Feast of Weeks. This Feast is called this because it starts exactly seven weeks (or fifty days) after the Feast of First Fruits. This feast is also called the Feast of Pentecost which means fifty in Hebrew.

At the Feast of Weeks, the Jews would offer the first fruit of their wheat harvest at the Temple in thanksgiving for God’s Provision. Count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; they you shall offer a new grain offering to the Lord. (Leviticus 23:16)

All the Jewish feasts were a foreshadowing of the coming Messiah and His Ministry. Each feast is a picture of an important aspect of God’s Plan for Redemption through faith in Jesus Christ.

As we have studied for the last week, Jesus was God’s Passover Lamb sacrificed for all people. His Blood on the hearts of believers puts an end to death and brings Eternal Life. His Resurrection on the third day was the fulfillment of the Feast of First Fruits.

Jesus also fulfilled the Feast of Weeks or Pentecost as he spent forty days with His Disciples AFTER His Resurrection and prior to His Ascension to Heaven to sit at the Right Hand of the Father. It was exactly fifty days after His Resurrection that Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to indwell the believers and empower them for Ministry. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor know Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. (John 14:16-17)

The Holy Spirit is the Promise of God for all believers and He first arrived exactly fifty days after Jesus’ Resurrection thus fulfilling the Feast of Pentecost on the Day of Pentecost! On that day the Disciples (the first fruits of Jesus’ Ministry) were gathered together and more than 3,000 people were Saved after they heard Peter preach the Gospel. This was the first of the great Harvest of souls that continues today.

Jesus said Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! (John 4:35)

The Gospel of Christ will……..….turn the tide...........in this world!

God’s timing is always perfect.         Doreen
