Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
These are the Words of Jesus. He gave us the power to defeat anything the enemy has to offer. This pertains to the spiritual attack of Satan on believers.
There are people who believe this power was meant only for Jesus’ disciples, but that is an incorrect assumption. When Jesus spoke these words, He was not speaking only to the Twelve, but to the seventy who had been sent out to minister to the people. They returned with joy in their hearts because even the demons were subject to them in the Name of Jesus!
Immediately, Jesus went on to say to them, Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in Heaven.
While it is true we absolutely have power over the enemy and we can rebuke and cast out demons, this power should not be our reason to rejoice. By doing so, we would rejoice in our own power. Rather we are to rejoice because we have been granted Salvation and our names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life! This is our ONLY reason to rejoice. All other rejoicing is in thanksgiving for the blessings of God which are all a result of our Salvation.
Without Salvation, there are no true blessings of God. This is the first step in our walk of faith which is made one step at a time. You cannot skip step one and go to steps two, three, or four. God is a God of order; His Order. First things first. Step one must be first. Salvation is that first step and it only takes the simple faith of a child; faith in Jesus and His Sacrifice on the Cross at Calvary.
After taking that all-important first step, then we can begin to “walk out” our salvation, one step at a time as the Lord leads our path. Step by step our faith grows and with every step, we learn to trust Him more. We begin to see His Plan for us personally.
It’s hard to comprehend how God is able to have a plan for every person on earth, but He does. He knows every single individual as if they were the only one. He knows our hearts and what we truly believe. He knows our desires and our motivation for those desires. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He is omniscient, meaning, He knows all; everything about everything and everyone.
God loves and cares for every person. It is His desire that every person be saved and born again. His Mercy is so great! He gives us chance after chance to accept Him as our Lord and Savior. His Plan is for no one to perish and spend eternity in Hell, therefore He has given everyone free will to accept Him or reject Him.
God has done so many great things in our lives. He has healed us, guided us, comforted us, counseled us, taught us and blessed us in ways we don’t even realize. All this is wonderful and we are to be grateful to God for everything, BUT Jesus said, our ONLY reason to rejoice is that our names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life and our eternal home is Heaven. Rejoice and give Him praise in your house today! Your name is written down!
Only God can……..turn the tide
Rejoicing! Doreen
