Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Our forefathers knew their life in England was total tyranny. They were in bondage to the King. They had read the Word of God and came to the revelation that Jesus died on the Cross so all who believed could be set free from any and all bondage. This included tyranny put in place by the government.
In search of freedom and liberty, these brave men packed up their wives and children and set sail across the Northern Atlantic in a small boat. It was in the fall of the year and winter was coming on, but with the Hand of God protecting them, they made it and began to establish the colonies of Jamestown and Plymouth which would be their "New England."
History books today tell of the Pilgrims search for freedom but they don’t really tell the whole story. These men sought the Freedom Christ died for them to have. They understood that one cannot be free and live in tyranny at the same time.
They had great understanding of the Price Christ paid on the Cross to set them free from the yoke of bondage. The Mayflower Compact was their initial governing document and it clearly stated their reason for migrating to the new land. In regard to their purpose for this undertaking, a portion of the Compact reads “for the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith.” This is why they came!
In England, they were forced to worship God in accordance with the government’s laws. They knew in their hearts this was wrong and they set out to make a new life for themselves and their future generations.
The second Governor of Plymouth, William Bradford, said,“(The Colonists) cherished a great hope and inward zeal of laying good foundations for the propagation and advance of the Gospel of the Kingdom of Christ in the remote parts of the world.”
As our American History books have been re-written, we have lost our true American Heritage and we find ourselves where we are today. We have evolved into a society of godless people who refer to themselves as Christians but have little understanding of what that really means.
Our Heritage in America is unlike any other in all of history. We cannot allow it to be altered in any way because Christ is our source of Freedom and Liberty. Without Christ, there is no real Freedom. If we allow Christ and the Word of God to be taken out of our culture we will revert right back to tyranny which is control by the government.
Our Heritage must be understood by our people and it must be taught to our children if we are to avoid governmental control of our lives. We are headed in that direction now, but if Americans will educate themselves about our true history, I believe the same revelation that came upon those first brave souls in England four hundred years ago, will revive Americans today.
Therefore, let us, the Remnant of Christians in America, pray for a great awakening of the Church in America as we understand the Word of God. The great Apostle Paul said, Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Christ is the source of true freedom in every sense of the word. Without Him, there is no freedom. Where there is no freedom, there is tyranny. Which do you choose; Freedom or tyranny?
