From Victim To Victor

Luke 3:9 And even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

Due to the fall of Adam and Eve, everyone is born with the sin nature. Therefore, all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. (Romans 3:23) We have all sinned against other people and we have all been hurt by others. In both cases, sin is the problem. It’s either our sin or the other person’s sin, but the problem is sin.

When we hear the Good News of the Gospel of Christ, God intends for us to be set free from our past which includes our sin and the hurt from being the victim of another person’s sin. Satan uses sin to torment people. Again, we are tormented by the guilt of our own sin and from being the victim of the sin of someone else. In either case, torment is the result.

We have all been the victim of sin. Someone has hurt us, robbed us, cheated us, raped us, been unfaithful to us, etc. and they did it ON PURPOSE! Living life with a victim mentality robs us of our Peace which is what Jesus went to the Cross for us to have. I am not suggesting that we were not the victim of their sin. We were! But, when we live as a victim, that mentality will control our lives as bitterness and unforgiveness builds and builds in our hearts. This is where the torment comes from and the enemy uses this to rob us of what God has for us.

Jesus went to the Cross so we can be victorious over sin. Most people can accept the forgiveness of God for their own sins but they have a hard time letting go of their victimhood because their perpetrator does not deserve to be forgiven. No one deserves to be forgiven. I didn’t deserve to be forgiven but God forgave me. You didn’t deserve to be forgiven, but God forgave you.

We have two choices in this matter. We can live as a victim or we can live as a victor. It’s our choice. To be a victor, we have to forgive the people who have wronged us. As difficult as that is, we have to do it. The only way is to believe that God will take care of it. He is the Judge and vengeance belongs to Him. For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” (Hebrews 10:30)

The answer is to get to the root of the problem, put the axe to the root of it, and surrender it to the Lord for Justice. When we do this, we sever the connection between us and the person who hurt us. This is a choice on our part. We have to CHOOSE to do this if we want to be set free from the hurt and pain this causes. It sounds easy but, trust me, it’s not easy. God never said it would be easy but He did say, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,”

Our part is to believe God and trust Him to do what He said He will do. When you let go, He will take hold. At that point, you are the victor! Hallelujah!

Let go and watch God……….turn the tide

I surrender all,                Doreen
