Luke 13:3 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.
God means what He says and He says what He means. As we discussed yesterday, Adam and Even knew what God had said. They knew He told them to not eat of that one tree in the Garden or they would surely die. But when Satan approached Eve, he convinced her that God did not really mean what He had said and we all know what happened.
Satan has been doing this throughout history. It’s the same scenario over and over again. God speaks and commands His people to do or not to do something. Then, Satan convinces them that God didn’t really mean what He said. My friends, when God says something, you can believe it!
We know that due to the fall of Adam and Eve, we are all sinners. (Romans 6:23) This is WHY God sent Jesus to die on the Cross of Calvary! He willingly gave up His Life so we can be saved BUT we have to repent!
Repentance is the first step to Salvation. Without repentance, there is nothing of God. Jesus said this! No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. (Luke 13:3) Did Jesus REALLY mean this? Does this actually say that if we don’t repent we will die? YES! That’s exactly what it says and that’s why the enemy is fighting so hard against repentance in the Church today.
The most common false teaching today is that there is no need to repent when you sin. The enemy has these people convinced (just like he did Eve) that once you have repented and are “saved” you never have to repent again. This is a lie straight from Hell!
Repentance is to be the lifestyle of the believer. Repentance is to confess your sins and be sincerely sorry for what you have done. If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9) Please notice that John uses the words “we” and “our.” He is lumping himself in with all believers. If WE confess OUR sins……. Obviously, he is saying that he still sins and needs to repent when he does.
The teachers of this false doctrine say that the Book of 1 John is not for believers. That is ridiculous! Don’t believe the lies of the enemy! Let’s read the entire Passage in 1 John. This is the Message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the Truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the Blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the Truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness if we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us. (1 John 1:5-10)
God’s Word is extremely clear on this. Don’t be deceived by the enemy. Repent. Ask God to forgive you and turn from your sin. He will forgive you and set your feet back on the narrow road. Hallelujah!
Repentance will……….turn the tide………..in anyone.
