Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

 

In the 12th Chapter of the Book of Acts we read what happened to Herod after he killed the Apostle James and tried to kill Peter. As we have been studying for the past several days, we know that Herod’s plan to throw Peter to the lions in the public arena, backfired on him. An Angel of the Lord released Peter from prison and made a public laughing stalk of Herod instead.

 

Because of his embarrassment, Herod fled to Caesarea where he sought to regain his place and position by appearing before a huge number of people in his royal robes to make a speech. While the people chanted that Herod was a god, the One True God took him out!

 

The Scriptures read as follows: So on a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat on his throne and gave an oration to them. And the people kept shouting, “The voice of a god and not of a man!” Then immediately an Angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God: And he was eaten by worms and died. (Acts 12:21-23)

 

My friends, God will not be mocked. Herod listened as the people gave him glory calling him god. He took it all in and it puffed him up with pride. Herod failed to tell the people that God Almighty was worthy of their praise. Instead, he took it for himself, and God acted in a mighty powerful display of Righteous anger. Then immediately an Angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God And he was eaten by worms and died. (Acts 12:23)

 

The thousands of people gathered that day saw this demonstration of Power by God. They came praising Herod but left praising the One True God and believing the Word of God. But the Word of God grew and multiplied. (Acts 12:24)

 

No person is worthy of ANY glory. God alone is worthy of ALL glory, honor and praise. There are people who stand behind pulpits today and seek glory for themselves and they use the Name of Jesus to do it. They attract big crowds of people who give millions of dollars to support them but in the end, they will have nothing. God WILL NOT be mocked!

 

 

To God be all glory! He alone can……..….turn the tide
