Good And Evil

Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

The world today is filled with corrupt and evil people. Unfortunately, many folks (even those who profess to be Christians) are included in this group. As we discussed yesterday, integrity is very important to God. He expects His children to have integrity and do what is right no matter the circumstances.

The fact is, people know the difference between right and wrong. God has created every human being with this knowing in their spirit. You know in your heart all the wrong you did. (1 Kings 2:44) Even people who are not saved and born again have common sense and a conscience. This is our moral compass that speaks to our inner being and leads us to do what is right. This is the handiwork of God, our Creator.

Although we know in our heart to do right, Satan plants thoughts in our heads and leads us into sin. He is our enemy and he is very good at what he does. It is Satan who has convinced many people that what God calls good is actually evil and what He calls evil is good. Jesus said, Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. (John 3:20)

In the 5th Chapter of Isaiah we read Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20) This is a strong warning from God that everyone should heed.

Calling good evil and evil good is sure evidence of Satan at work. Jesus told us that he comes only to kill, steal, and destroy. (John 10:10) There is nothing good about Satan. He is pure evil and his goal is to destroy God’s people. The Truth of what is right and wrong; good and evil; can be easily found in the Word of God.

In addition, the Holy Spirit will convict our hearts of our wrong doing. Jesus said Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of Righteousness, and of Judgment. (John 16:7-8)

My friends, we are without excuse. We were all created with a conscience. If we are saved and born-again, we have the Holy Spirit of God dwelling inside us. He is the Helper Jesus spoke of and He will convict our hearts of sin, Righteousness and Judgment. In simple terms, this means that He will show us what is wrong, what is right, and what will happen if we choose to do wrong.

Isaiah said it like this: Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20) God is a Man of integrity. He stands by His Promises. We would be well advised to heed His Warnings and seek to do what is Right in His eyes. Repent! The Kingdom of God is at hand.

God is about to…..…….turn the tide……….in this world.
