Matthew 13:25 But while men slept His enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
Matthew recorded twenty-one Parables spoken by Jesus. A Parable is a simple story used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson. Jesus liked to speak in Parables and He used people, places, animals, and things that the people of that time could relate to. Most people were either farmers, shepherds, or ranchers. They understood animals and vegetation.
One of the first Parables recorded is the Parable of the Wheat and the Tares. We find this in Matthew 13:24-30. In this Parable, Jesus refers to Himself as the Man in the Kingdom of Heaven. This Man sowed good wheat seed everywhere He went. The seed is the Word of God and as it is spoken, it is sowed in His field which is the lost people of this world. As the seeds take root and grow, the Church grows.
While the Church was sleeping, the enemy came and sowed bad seeds among His good seeds. These seeds are weeds or tares. The enemy is Satan and he uses people to contaminate the fields. These people are false prophets and false teachers who speak lies and falsehood in the Church.
Some of the Man’s servants noticed that tares had been sowed among the wheat and asked Him where these seeds came from. The Man answered that this was the work of the enemy. The servants asked Him if they should go and gather up the tare seeds.
The Man told them not to gather them up because in doing so, they might disturb the good seed that He planted there as well. He told them to let them grow together and at the time of the harvest, they will be separated. The wheat will be gathered into the Man’s barn and the tares will be put in bundles and burned up.
This is a powerful Parable. There will always be false prophets and false teachers in the Church. They contaminate the Word of God and cause tares (weeds) to grow among Jesus’ wheat. They will always be there but at the time of the Great Harvest (the Rapture of the Church) they will be left behind and eventually spend all of eternity in Hell where they will burn forever.
If we know the True Word of God we will not be a pawn for Satan. Nor will our faith be contaminated by his lies. There are only two kinds of plants growing in Jesus’ field: wheat and tares. Which are you?
Good seed will……….turn the tide……..in your life.
To those who have ears, let them hear. Doreen
