1 John 4:3 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof you have heard that it should come; and even now already is in the world.
Lucifer was the wisest, most beautiful angel God ever created. We read a description of him in the 28th Chapter of Ezekiel. You seal up the sum, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You have been in Eden, the Garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of your tabrets and of your pipes was prepared in you in the day that you were created.
God had a beautiful plan for Lucifer. He created him with tremendous wisdom and beauty. He was covered in precious jewels and God placed in him the ability to make beautiful music. If you have heard the expression, “He has a good set of pipes.” speaking of the person’s ability to sing, this Scripture is where that expression comes from.
Unfortunately, Lucifer made the choice to turn from God and rise up in pride. We don’t know why this happened, but perhaps he looked in the mirror one day and saw just how beautiful he was and considered himself to be even more beautiful than God. The other angels could have bragged on him to the point he wanted to be God himself. However it happened, God didn’t like it one bit and banished Lucifer from his place in Heaven and it’s been a spiritual war ever since.
Spirits never change. Unlike us, they don’t get old and they don’t die. They are the same today as when God created them. Lucifer has many names the most common being Satan, the devil, or the enemy. Artists have depicted him as a red devil with horns, but he is in fact just as beautiful as he was when God created him. He is still covered in jewels and he still has the same set of pipes God gave him in the beginning. He still has the same great wisdom and the ability to make beautiful music that he had when God created him.
The only difference in Lucifer now is that everything he does is against God instead of in worship of God. He is the spirit of antichrist and he uses his beauty and talents to kill, steal, and destroy the Kingdom of God. He is the great impostor, the father of lies, and the author of confusion. He may be beautiful and wise but he is our adversary; our enemy.
This is why John tells us to test or try the spirits. but try the spirits whether they are of God: People and things are not always as they seem. Music can sound good and even beautiful and have a corrupt spirit behind it. Remember, Lucifer was created to make beautiful music and he is still doing so today. His ability is still there, but his motivation is corrupt and evil and leads only to destruction.
Millions upon millions of people have been deceived by Satan and are spending eternity in Hell because of him. Millions are deceived today and walking in sin and darkness because they have bought into his lies and deception. Test the spirits, my friends. Test the spirits and seek greater discernment.
The Holy Spirit of God will……..turn the tide
