Acts 9:33 And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, which had kept his bed eight years and was sick of the palsy.
Jesus came to minister to the world which was (and still is) helpless, dead, and ignorant. To this, Jesus brought (and still offers) Health, Life, and Salvation. Peter’s ministry journey that Luke wrote about in the 9th and 10th Chapters of the Book of Acts, highlights three people that suffered from these same maladies. These three are Aeneas, Dorcas, and Cornelius.
When Peter arrived in Lydda, he found a man named Aeneas who had been helplessly sick in bed with palsy for eight years. Science and the systems of the world could not heal him but Peter brought the Power of the Finished Work of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary which could do so.
The great theologian, Williams, wrote: “The impotency of science, benevolence, and observance stand forth upon the record. Science could not heal Aeneas, benevolence could not give life to Dorcas, and religious observance failed to secure Salvation for Cornelius. Science, benevolence, and observance are excellent themselves, but they cannot give Healing, Life, and Light to the soul. However, Christ can give these, and He only can; and personal contact with Him secures them.”
Luke, being a physician, notes that Aeneas had laid in bed with the palsy for eight years. Eight is God’s number for new beginnings or starting over. God created work weeks to have seven days. The eighth day is the start of a new week. Likewise, there are seven notes in the musical scale with the eighth note being the start of a new octave. There will be seven years of tribulation and then the New Millennial Age will begin with the eighth year. We see this repeated over and over again in the Word of God. Seven means completion and eight means a new beginning.
Aeneas’ seven-year bout with being bedridden with palsy was about to be complete. In the eighth year, he would be made whole and receive a new beginning! That’s exactly what happened! And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ makes you whole: Arise, and make your bed. And he arose immediately. (Acts 9:34)
God turned the tide in the life of Aeneas that day as Peter brought the Truth of the Gospel of Christ into his house. He wants to do the same for you today. All you have to do is believe. Only believe, only believe, all things are possible, only believe!
God wants to……….turn the tide……….in your life.
Thank you Jesus! Doreen
