Isaiah 30:9-10 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children who will not hear the Law of the Lord; Who say to the Seers, “Do not see,” and to the Prophets, “Do not prophesy to us right things; speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits.
The Prophesies of Old pertain to the Jewish people and Israel but also apply to God’s people at any time. The Body of Christ has been grafted into the Family of God and we too, are God’s people. Therefore, we can read the Prophesies and apply them to our daily lives.
Given the spiritual condition of the Body of Christ, let us read a Word from the Great Prophet Isaiah and allow the Lord to convict our hearts and minister to us.
Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and note it on a scroll, that it may be for time to come, forever and ever: That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children who will not hear the Law of the Lord; Who say to the Seers, “Do not see,” and to the Prophets, “Do not prophesy to us right things; Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits. Get out of the way, turn aside from the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.”
Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel: “Because you despise this Word, and trust in oppression and perversity, and rely on them, therefore this iniquity shall be to you like a breach ready to fall, a bulge in a high wall, whose breaking comes suddenly, in an instant.
And He shall break it like the breaking of the potter’s vessel, which is broken in pieces; He shall not spare. So there shall not be found among its fragments a shard to take fire from the hearth, Or to take water from the cistern.”
For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” But you would not, and you said, “No, for we will flee on horses”—Therefore you shall flee! and, “We will ride on swift horses”—therefore those who pursue you shall be swift!
One thousand shall flee at the threat of one, at the threat of five you shall flee, till you are left as a pole on top of a mountain and as a banner on a hill. (Isaiah 30:8-17)
This is a STRONG rebuke of the Lord God Almighty. I see this as a picture of the Church today in America which is rebellious, lying, and refuses to hear the Law of the Lord. We don’t want to hear what God’s Seers and Prophets have to say. We would much rather hear “smooth talk” even if it’s lies. We tell the Preachers to get out of our way and stop using the Word of God as a hindrance to our lifestyle. A person I know in California once told me, when she changed churches, "I don't go to church to have someone tell me what I'm doing wrong," This is a perfect example of much of the Church today.
The warning from God in regard to the consequences follows the rebuke. It says that because we hate His Word and have put our faith in oppression and perverse things, we will get what we deserve. Unrepentant, habitual sin will cause a HUGE defect like a bulge in a wall that will suddenly break into a million pieces and there will be nothing left. God will allow this to happen.
Knowing this we still say “No, we will not change. Instead, we will run away as fast as we can.” We can flee from our enemies in fear but at some point, we will find ourselves on the top of the mountain, nowhere else to run.
I pray this Passage has touched your heart and bears witness with your spirit in regard to your own life and the Church today in America. We don’t have to be this way. We don’t have to live our lives in fear of the enemy. We don’t have to run until there is no other place to run.
God gives us the answer. We will look at that. Until then, be in prayer about your own life and the changes you need to make. God will reveal those areas to us when we ask. Jesus said, Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
Sincere repentance will……..turn the tide
Seeking with all my heart, Doreen
