Higher Education

Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

Peter and John had no formal education and yet even the members of the Sanhedrin were amazed at their ability to speak and the knowledge they had. We must remember that in those days, ordinary people did not go to school. Only the elite were afforded an education.

So, Luke wrote that the Sanhedrin marveled at Peter and John. The only difference between them and all the other ordinary people was the fact that they had been with Jesus for a period of time. The time they spent with Jesus was far greater than any education they could have received at a school of higher learning. I must say that I believe this to be true today as well.

While there is nothing wrong with a formal education, many “educated” people in this world have little to no common sense and cannot even manage their own lives and household. Every aspect of human existence is addressed in the Word of God and there is no better source of education for anyone.

Please also remember that Jesus is the Word made flesh. When He walked this earth He was the Word of God interacting with the people. While being 100% man, He was 100% God as well. What better source of education can one have than to spend time with the one Who created them?

The Bible is the Owner’s Manual for every person. While we are each individual and unique, we are all very much the same. God created us all and His Word is our Instruction Book for living our lives. All the education in the world will never lead anyone to the Truth of God’s Way to live. Only through time spent with God in Prayer, reading His Word and listening to the Voice and Leading of the Holy Spirit can we even begin to be all that God has created us to be.

In the early days of America, the Bible was the primary text book in our schools. In most cases is was the ONLY Book teachers had but it was all they needed. Today, the Bible is not even allowed in most schools and look at the condition of our society.

God created us. He gave us His Word to live by. He is there to hear and answer our prayers. He sent His Holy Spirit to teach, guide and direct our every step through this life, and yet, people choose to totally discount Him and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on what they call a formal education. It’s a pity!

If you seek an education, go to the Head Master of the Universe. If you don’t know where to start, let me suggest the Book of Proverbs and the Gospel of John. Read it every day. There are 31 Chapters in Proverbs. If you read one Chapter a day, you will read the entire Book every month. In a years time, you will have read it twelve times. It is the Wisdom of God, easily understood and presented in such a way that you can put it to use in your daily life.

Give the Word of God a try. It will……….turn the tide……….in your life.

I love the Word of God!         Doreen
