His Story
April 9, 2022, 3:00 AM

Acts 2:29 Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

Of all the great Prophets of Old, Peter chose David to speak about in his inaugural message on the Day of Pentecost. Why David? Why not Jeremiah, Isaiah, or any of the others?

Peter’s mission that day was to convince those present of Who Jesus was and What He did so they would believe in Him, repent of their sins, and be Saved. This should be the mission of every Preacher who stands in the pulpit today. The Purpose of the Church is to see people Saved and this can only happen when they place their faith in Who Jesus is and His Finished Work on the Cross of Calvary.

So, why David? The other Prophets spoke of the Messiah. The reason the Holy Spirit chose David for Peter to speak about is due to the lineage of the Messiah. Jesus had been (and still is) known as the Son of David. Every line of His genealogy can be traced directly back to David. This is amazing!

While Abraham and Jacob’s sons were the founders of the Nation of Israel, David was the founder of the Monarchy of the Kingdom of Israel. David was the King of Israel and Jesus would also be their King. The facts that Peter put forth that day proved Jesus to be a direct descendant of David making Him the true King of Israel.

Every line of His genealogy went straight back to David. Even the lineage of Joseph (Jesus’ foster father) can be traced back to David through Solomon. Also, Jesus’ mother (Mary) was a direct descendant of David through Nathan.

Many historians have written of the genealogy and lineage of Christ, including the great Josephus. True history proves the facts of the past. The Facts about the Life of Jesus Christ are very well documented and should be used to substantiate Who and What Jesus did.

That’s what Peter did on the Day of Pentecost and that is what we should still be doing today. This is part of God’s Pattern for His Church. True History is extremely important. I advise you to study it. Just as the world tried to rewrite History in the days of the First Church, they are still trying to rewrite it today. True History has been removed from our schools because the world does not want our children to know about Jesus.

Just as all the lines of genealogy go directly back to David, all the lines of History go directly back to Jesus. That is what the word History means: His Story. It’s all about Him. It’s all about Jesus. Let us do all we can to keep it that way.

His Story will……….turn the tide
