Hold Fast And Repent

Revelation 3:3 Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent.

In Jesus’ letter to the church in Sardis, we find that He declares them to be spiritually dead. Although their name implied life and joy, inside there was no life. You may wonder how this can happen. The answer to this question is found in Jesus’ Words to them. He said, You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. (Revelation 3:4)

As we discussed yesterday, the church in Sardis was fake. Most of the people were not alive in Christ. They were spiritually dead. It is obvious from Jesus’ Words that these people were once alive in Christ but the majority of them had turned from their faith. A few of them remained faithful and to those that stood fast, Jesus made this Promise: they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy.

As we study Jesus’ letters to the seven churches in the Book of Revelation, we find the condition of the Church today. Unfortunately, most people who call themselves Christians today are not. Some have never really been born again while others were once saved by their faith in Christ, but have turned away from that faith and are now counted among those who Jesus spoke of in His letter to the church in Sardis.

To be saved, one must believe in the shed Blood of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary. Without this belief, there is no Redemption or Salvation. This is the faith we must continue in for the rest of our lives to be included in those that Jesus spoke of when He said, they shall walk with Me, for they are worthy.

Examine your own heart today. Is your faith in Christ and Him Crucified? The faith you had to be Saved is the same faith you must have to remain in the fold. When Jesus said, You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; it’s obvious that the majority of them had defiled their garments. What does that mean? It means that they were once given a garment of Salvation but they have soiled their garments and are no longer worthy to walk with Jesus.

Let’s read it one more time. You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. (Revelation 3:4) Those few who had not defiled their garments (turned from their faith in Christ Crucified that they once had) are worthy to be with Jesus.

A couple of days ago, we laid out the Timeline for the End Times. After the Rapture of the Church and the Great Tribulation, the Battle of Armageddon will take place. The final battle will be fought by Jesus Christ and all the Saints who have been found to be worthy. Now I saw Heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called FAITHFUL AND TRUE, and in Righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His Head were many crowns. He had a Name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His Name is called the Word of God. And the armies in Heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. (Revelation 19:11-14) The armies in Heaven are all those who did not turn from their faith and were taken up in the Rapture of the Church. They were those who did not defile their garments and were found worthy to wear a white robe.

We are all saved by faith in Jesus Christ and Him Crucified. At that time we are issued a clean, white robe. Our sins are all forgiven and forgotten. It is our responsibility to keep our robes clean and white. How do we keep our robes clean and white? We do so by maintaining our faith in Christ and Him Crucified. Jesus said, Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. (Revelation 2:2)

Jesus is our First Love and He must remain our First Love. Never forget what Christ did for you on the Cross. Keep your faith planted squarely there and live every day in sincere gratitude for the Sacrifice He made for you. Without Him, you would be headed for eternity in Hell.

Hold fast to your faith in Christ Crucified. God is about to…..…….turn the tide

Living every day in sincere gratitude,         Doreen
