Yesterday we discussed the fact that the Holy Spirit has been present and in operation since the beginning. We found Scriptures to substantiate this fact.
Beginning with Creation, we found the Holy Spirit of God present through the entire Old Testament. It was the Holy Spirit who moved upon people and inspired the Prophets. The Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary and formed Baby Jesus in her womb.
The Holy Spirit rested upon Jesus and was with Him during His entire Life and Ministry. Every Miracle Jesus performed was done by the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit of God never left Jesus as He was arrested, beaten, tortured, and Crucified on the Cross of Calvary, and it was by the Power of the Holy Spirit that Jesus was raised from the dead.
Prior to Jesus’ Crucifixion, He told His Disciples that He would be leaving but He would send them the Promise of God. This Promise is the Holy Spirit and He arrived on the Day of Pentecost.
Just as He has always been with God’s people, the Holy Spirit is with every born-again believer in Christ. He dwells within us to Teach, Guide, Counsel, and be our all-around Helper throughout our life and ministry. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. (John 14:26)
The Church is not a building. We, the people, are the Church; the Body of Christ in whom the Holy Spirit dwells and operates. Do you not know that you are the Temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16) The Holy Spirit is our access to God the Father. For through Him (Jesus) we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. (Ephesians 2:18)
Together, we make up the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit is the Power of God to bring about change in the lives of people. The Apostle Paul said Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the Saints and members of the Household of God, having been built on the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a Holy Temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. (Ephesians 2:18-22)
Jesus is to be the Head OVER the Church and the Holy Spirit is the Power IN the Church. Our access to God and the reality of God in our lives is totally dependent on the operation of the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately, most churches today have very little, if any operation of the Holy Spirit. There are entire denominations that don’t even believe in the moving and operation of the Holy Spirit. These churches are spiritually dead and little more than social clubs for their members.
Seek the Presence of the Holy Spirit in your own life and in your church. Jesus said, Seek and you shall find. (Matthew 7:7) There is nothing like being in the Presence of the Holy Spirit. Once there, you never want to leave. Hallelujah!
The Holy Spirit will…………..turn the tide …….in your life.
Welcome Holy Spirit, Doreen
