How Long Must We Wait?

John 5:5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years.

In the 5th Chapter of John we read about a crippled man who had sat at the pool of Bethsada for 38 years waiting for someone to help him. Imagine that! This man waited 38 years for help from someone but his help never came.

John recorded it like this: Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. For an Angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” The sick man answered, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me. Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.

You see, this man believed he could be healed, but was seeking help in all the wrong ways and from all the wrong people. His faith was in the water but only when an Angel came and stirred it up. Also, his healing was dependent on a man. He had to have someone come and carry him down into the pool of water at just the right time. Then he would be healed.

This story is the perfect picture of the Church today. The people are all sick. They gather together at certain times in specific places hoping to be healed and delivered. They believe God is able, but the conditions have to be just perfect for Him to perform a Miracle in their life.

My friends, God does not need people to do anything. He wants us to trust Him right where we are, right now. How long have you gone to Church hoping to be healed and delivered? How many years have you waited for that “man of God” to come to town so you could sit under his ministry and receive what you need? How many miles have you traveled to sit in a meeting and left in the same condition you arrived in? How much money have you spent for a bottle of oil or a piece of cloth that is supposed to have healing powers?

Yes, God does use people, but our faith and trust is not to be in them. God wants us to trust in the Finished Work of His Son on the Cross. It was there that He defeated all power of the enemy in our lives. The Work has already been done. It is finished! All we have to do is believe it and receive it.

I say to you today: STOP SEEKING HELP FROM PEOPLE, OBJECTS AND BUILDINGS. Our Help is in our faith in Jesus Christ and Him Crucified. Jesus is right there with you right now! He wants to help you. Let Him help you today.

Oh, how God wants to….…….turn the tide……..in your life.

Thank you Jesus,         Doreen
