How Many Miracles Do You Need?

Acts 2:6-8 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, behold are not all these which speak Galileans? And now hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

The happenings on the Day of Pentecost were truly Miraculous! The 120 believers were gathered with hundreds (if not thousands) of Jews on the Temple Mount for the Feast. Jews had come from all around the Roman Empire as they did for all the Feasts.

They were hoping for the Messiah to come when in actuality, He had already come, lived a perfect life, performed countless Miracles, was Crucified, buried, rose from the dead, appeared again to more than 500 people, performed more Miracles, and then Ascended to Heaven. All this happened and yet, most Jews did not believe it. Amazing!

We know that it is the Will of God that all be saved and born-again. The Lord is not slack concerning His Promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9) God wanted the Jews to believe so He did something really spectacular!

Picture this: Thousands of people gathered on the Temple Mount. They had come from all over the region and they spoke several different languages. All of a sudden there came a mighty rushing wind and this small group of about 120 people from Galilee started speaking in all different languages!

Luke records that when the people heard this they took notice and were both confused and amazed. They had never seen or heard anything like this before and it was happening at the Temple! What in the world was going on?

The Jews recognized the language of the Galileans because they had a strange accent. (Luke 22:59) However, these folks were not speaking the language of the Galileans. They were all speaking a different language! The Miraculous part of it all was that the Jews present that day could actually understand the languages that were being spoken because they heard it in their native tongue.

These people came from several different countries in the Roman Empire and spoke the languages that was native to their homeland. This would be their primary language although they could probably also speak Greek and Aramaic.

Why would God do such a thing? For the same reason, He did all the Miracles and still does Miracles. Jesus told us why He performed all the Miracles. But if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the Works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him. (John 10:38)

They had heard of the many Miracles performed by Jesus but they still did not believe. They had just witnessed a phenomenon but they still did not believe. What has God done in your life? How many Miracles have you been witness to? Do you believe? What will it take for the world to believe? God is continuing to show the world great signs and wonders because it is His Will that all be saved and born-again. One day it will be too late. I pray it’s not too late for you.

God is about to…...….turn the tide
