Matthew 19:28 Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the Throne of His Glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
When Jesus walked the earth as a man, He called people to follow Him. That’s why they were called “followers.” Because Jesus is no longer here on earth in the form of a person, we can’t physically follow Him. However, since Jesus and the Word are one and the same, we CAN follow the Word just as if it were Jesus speaking to us. Actually, it is. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His Glory, the Glory as of the only Begotten of the Father, full of Grace and Truth. (John 1:1; 1:14)
Jesus told the people that He was the Messiah; the Son of God. He also showed them Who He was through all the Miracles, Signs, and Wonders He performed. In addition, He actually asked them Who He was. He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God. (Matthew 16:15-16)
Jesus also told everyone what was going to happen. He told them that He would hang on the Cross, be buried, and rise again on the Third Day. To prove He is still alive AFTER His Resurrection, He appeared to well over 500 people and continued to perform Miracles, Signs, and Wonders. You see, Jesus doesn’t have to be here physically with us to perform a Miracle in our lives. He is God and He does not change. (Malachi 3:3) Therefore, what He did then, He is still doing today but today, He does things through the Person and the Power of the Holy Spirit of God Who works totally in accordance with the Word of God.
In addition, Jesus told His followers that He would one day return for His Bride; the Church which consists of those who continue to follow Him while He is no longer there with them physically. That, my friends, is us! We are included in this group IF we continue to follow Him on a daily basis. Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, (the Kingdom Age) when the Son of Man sits on the Throne of His Glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. (Matthew 19:28)
There have been many songs written about this. The songwriters understood and believed the Word of God. The two songs that come to my mind right now are Wherever He Leads, I’ll Go and I Have Decided to Follow Jesus. In both songs, there is no turning back; no quitting. Whatever happens and wherever Jesus leads, we will follow.
These are not to be just songs we sing but the very lives we live. I don’t know about you, but I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back. Hallelujah!
Following Jesus will……….turn the tide……….in your life.
No turning back! Doreen
