2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season.
While the Apostle Paul was in prison he wrote to young Timothy and encouraged him in his ministry. Timothy was an Evangelist and had answered God’s Call on his life but Paul felt compelled to encourage and edify him through his letters.
Paul’s words to Timothy are included in the Canon of Scripture because they are inspired by the Holy Spirit of God and are pertinent to every born-again believer in Christ. Paul admonished Timothy to Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season. (2 Timothy 4:2) There is not a specific season or place to preach the Gospel. Everywhere we go we see spiritually lost people. They are absolutely everywhere! These people need to hear the Word of the Lord because if they don’t, they will never accept Jesus as their Savior and they will spend eternity in Hell.
Many people believe that the Word is only to be preached in Church buildings or at Church functions. This is not true! The Word of God is to be preached and taught everywhere! A true believer in Christ will want to share their faith with others. Every person we meet is a potential convert to Christ.
The Apostle Paul wrote to the Romans on this subject too. For whoever calls on the Name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on Him in who they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Gospel of Peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!” But they have not all obeyed the Gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report? So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. (Romans 10:13-17)
Faith comes by hearing the Word of God preached and we are all called to share the Good News of the Gospel of Christ in season and out of season; everywhere we go! If you really care about people, tell them about Jesus. God has a Plan for their life.
The Gospel of Christ will………..turn the tide ……….in this world!
Thank you Jesus! Doreen
